Medical Lab Technician

Role

Travel/Contract Laboratory position in Brewton, Alabama.

Schedule

• Night shift: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM
• 36 hours per week
• Will train on day shift for the first week of the assignment, 4x10s beginning at 8:00 AM

Required Qualifications

• Medical Lab Technician (2 years of experience)
• Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year
• AMT or ASCP
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a closely related field
• Experience on the microbiology bench
• Experience in the blood bank

Preferred Qualifications

• MT preferred
• 3–5 years of experience strongly preferred
• Current certification as a MT, MLS, or MLT is preferred
• Certification eligible or military laboratory training is preferred
• Will consider a very experienced MLT

Duties

• Performs and evaluates technical laboratory procedures
• Uses quality control techniques with automated, semi-automated, and manual methodologies
• Performs diagnostic procedures in chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, and blood bank
• May occasionally collect blood samples from patients of all ages
• May perform other duties assigned by laboratory leadership

Compliance / Onboarding Items

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Transcript or diploma required for all lab units
• Education verification required for all travelers
• 9-panel drug screen required within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 1 year of start
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap required within 10 years of start
• Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season
• References required: 2 professional references; 3 are preferred
