Job Description

• Position/Specialty: MS/Tele RN
• Patient Ratios:

  • Day and Evening: 5:1
  • Nights: 6 or 7:1
• Support Staff:

  • Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) on all units for vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living.
  • In-house phlebotomy team for peripheral lab draws; nursing responsible for PICC lines and central lines.
• Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year
• First-timers Accepted: Yes
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call Requirement: No
• Floating Requirement: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
• Local Candidates: Not accepted (75 miles radius)
• Pending License: Not accepted
• Requested Time Off (RTO): Keep close to 1 week
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Special Requirements: Telemetry experience required; Epic experience preferred.

Certifications Required

• BLS: Basic Life Support
• ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (required for specific units)
• PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (required for ER and Brain Injury units)
• NIH Stroke Certification: Required for all RN candidates except for OR and Family Birth Place.

Health and Compliance Documents

• Physical Exam: Current health form signed by a provider within a year of start.
• Fit Mask: N95 fit mask updated annually.
• TB Testing: Negative TB or chest X-ray required within 12 months of start.
• Vaccinations: Proof of MMR, Varicella, Rubella, and Hepatitis B required.
• Flu Vaccination: Required documentation by December 3.
• Drug Testing: Required within 30 days of start date.

Background and History Checks

• Criminal Background Check: Must be no older than 3 months from start date.
• Employment References: Minimum of 2 required.
• Current Resume/CV: Required.
• Education Verification: Academic verification from a third party required.

Additional Information

• Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start date.
• Work History Verification: Verification of at least two past employments required.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
