Job Opportunity: Nursing Supervisor (Registered Nurse)

Role Overview

Lead and support a skilled surgical services team in a Level One Trauma Center with 16 OR suites offering a full range of surgical specialties including cardiac, transplant, orthopedics, plastics, general surgery, pediatrics, neurosurgery, urology, gynecology, ENT, and vascular surgery.

You will manage day-to-day operations, supervise and develop staff, and ensure quality, cost-effective perioperative care for patients of all ages (neonates to geriatrics).

Shift: Monday–Friday | Variable shifts: 6:30 AM–4:30 PM and 10:30 AM–9:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily patient care operations, maintaining high-quality and cost-effective services within budget guidelines.
• Provide clinical leadership by directing, coordinating, and delegating patient care flexibly.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient care relevant to clinical specialty as needed.
• Promote personal and professional growth among team members.
• Stay current with laws and regulations affecting patient care and ensure organizational compliance.
• Assist in developing policies, procedures, and guidelines for safe and efficient department operation.
• Help develop and manage the annual budget, taking action to control financial resources.
• Implement evidence-based practice strategies and assist in quality improvement initiatives.
• Interview, orient, train, schedule, evaluate, discipline, and terminate staff with appropriate input.
• Lead staff to maintain high productivity and intervene to resolve problems as necessary.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree (required)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as a registered nurse (required)
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current Iowa RN license (required)
  • Current BCLS certification (required)
