Registered Nurse - Step Down Unit

Location: Warwick, Rhode Island
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night Shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Step Down unit. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring after intensive care or surgery.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Rhode Island
  • Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Immunizations and Health Screenings:
    • COVID-19 vaccine series or bivalent booster (medical exemptions require prior approval)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – proof of two immunizations or positive titer
    • Varicella – proof of two immunizations or positive titer
    • Tdap – immunization within the last 10 years
    • Hepatitis B – complete vaccination series or declination (titers not accepted)
    • Influenza vaccine required seasonally (9/1/25–5/31/26) with no exemptions accepted
    • Tuberculosis screening: Two-step PPD or one IGRA test within the last year; if positive, negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required
  • Fit Testing: N95 mask fit test within one year prior to start (specific approved mask models)
  • Fingerprinting: State fingerprinting required within 30 days of start at the Attorney General’s Office in Rhode Island

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license or state ID
  • Neutral background badge photo (jpeg format)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation packet and confidentiality agreement prior to start
  • Employment verification for the last 5 years
  • Annual completion of COVID and flu policy form
  • Submission of a professional resume/profile and work attestation form

  • This position is exclusively for Registered Nurses specializing in Step Down care.
