Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (NICU)
Location: Carmel, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Unit: Level 3 NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- Shift: Night shift, 1800-0630 (36 hours per week)
Required Credentials & Certifications
Professional Credentials
- Resume/Profile submission required
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment
- Driver’s License/State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements)
Certifications (Must be AHA unless otherwise noted)
- ACLS (Required)
- BLS (Optional)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) (Optional)
- NRP Advanced (Required)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be done onsite
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (TB testing): Required with specific timing and annual updates
- Positive PPD: Negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire if applicable
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Background & Compliance
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (completed within 30 days of first assignment, updated annually)
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days)
- Employment Verification for past 7 years (updated annually)
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and extensions
- Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start, updated annually
- 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually, retesting if break in service > 90 days
Additional Notes
- Some onboarding forms and attestations are completed onsite or uploaded by the agency/facility.
- Compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals, OSHA topics required (minimum 80% score, only 2 attempts allowed).
- All documentation must be current and meet the specified timelines to ensure onboarding and assignment eligibility.
This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with NICU expertise seeking a night shift role in a Level 3 NICU setting.
