Job Opportunity: Surgical Tech

Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)

Job Details

• Shift options: 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts
• Weekday and weekend call requirements

Required Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Licensure & Certification

• Must have a valid state license/certification for Surgical Technician, verified within 30 days prior to start

Health & Immunizations

• COVID-19 vaccine proof or agency declination (optional)
• MMR: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required; if negative/equivocal, vaccination series must be documented with expectation to complete within 30 days if pending
• Varicella: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required; similar rules as MMR for negative/equivocal titers
• Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer, 3 vaccine series, or specific declination form required
• Influenza vaccine or specific declination form required; if declined, mask must be worn at all times on assignment
• Tdap preferred (within last 10 years); if not available, specific declination form required
• TB test: Must have one of the following within required timeframes:

  • Two skin PPDs (one within 12 months, one within 3 months) or
  • One Quantiferon/Spot test within 12 months
  • For past positive TB tests, chest X-ray within 12 months may be required
• Annual physical/health statement within last 12 months including vitals, height, weight, Snellen eye chart, and physician approval with no restrictions

Other Health & Safety Requirements

• Fit test for approved respirator models completed within last 12 months prior to start
• Drug screen (9+ panel) within 30 days of start
• Background check within 30 days of start including SSN address trace, county and national criminal searches, and FACIS 3 check
• Valid, unexpired US driver’s license or state ID required

Documentation & Compliance

• Complete skills checklist for the assigned unit, updated annually
• Core competency exam with a minimum score of 80% prior to onboarding
• Resume accounting for all employment and gaps for the last 7 years, including education history
• Two professional references: one supervisor from last 12 months, one supervisor or peer from last 3 years
• Employment verification of most recent employer
• Signed and dated job description
• Various required forms and acknowledgments related to conduct, sexual harassment, parking, assignment confirmation, and self-study packets must be completed prior to onboarding
• Color headshot photo in JPEG format required ASAP

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not specified as required
• Must comply with all onboarding and credential verification timelines
• Annual requirements include physical, TB testing, fit testing, and influenza vaccination or declination

This position is suitable for Certified Surgical Technicians who meet the licensure, certification, and health requirements and are available for a 13-week long-term assignment with flexible shift options and call responsibilities.
