Registered Respiratory Therapist - Florence, South Carolina

Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Maintain a professional image and provide excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Perform direct patient care and respiratory therapy procedures, including Hyperbaric Medicine for specially trained therapists.
  • Follow all policies and procedures; organize workload to ensure therapy completion.
  • Participate in respiratory care educational activities and departmental meetings.
  • Document and maintain patient records, charts, and reports timely and accurately.
  • Respond promptly to Code Blue and Rapid Response alerts and document accordingly.
  • Use clinical judgment and assessment skills to provide appropriate patient care, monitoring, and communication with other caregivers.
  • Evaluate patient care and make recommendations as needed.
  • Special trained therapists perform Pulmonary Functions, Methacholine Challenges, Hyperbaric Medicine, NICU care, PICU care, and Asthma Education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Credentials and Certifications

Certifications

  • BLS (AHA only)
  • ACLS (AHA only)

Licenses

  • Valid state Respiratory Therapist license (Primary source verification required)
  • Driver's License or State ID (valid and up to date)

Personal Health Requirements

  • MMR: Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Proof of 3 vaccinations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout (no declinations accepted)
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): 1st within 1 year, 2nd within 30 days of start; negative Q-Gold or Tspot within 90 days prior to start also accepted
  • Fit Test: Recommended for travelers, to be completed within a year of start (optional)
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required September through April; medical/religious exemptions considered case-by-case with physician statement

Professional Requirements

  • Social Security Card (copy required)
  • Criminal Background Check: Must include county, statewide, national search, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, NSOP, SS Trace, and education verification; done within 60 days of start covering last 7 years; updated annually
  • Employment Verification: 5 years
  • Drug Screen: 10 panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (rapid drug screen not accepted)
  • Skills Checklist: Clinical checklist completed prior to start and updated annually
  • Confirmation of Assignment: Standard form required

Submission Requirements

  • Resume or professional profile required for submission (references preferred but not required)

This position requires a licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist with strong clinical skills, ability to respond to emergencies, and willingness to participate in ongoing education and departmental activities. Special training in advanced respiratory procedures and hyperbaric medicine is a plus.
