Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (RN)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced ER RN to work in a Critical Access hospital with Level 4 trauma certification. The role involves typical Emergency Department patient care across all age groups, from pediatrics to geriatrics.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Work Environment & Details

• Trauma Level: Level 4 trauma certification by the state of North Dakota
• Beds: 14 regular beds, 2 large trauma bays
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3-5 depending on assignment
• Patient Types: All typical Emergency Department presentations, including pediatrics through geriatrics
• Charge Nurse: Present on each shift and takes assignments
• Support Staff: 1 CNA functioning as ward clerk and CNA
• Telemetry: RNs must read and interpret their own telemetry strips
• Shifts: 7a-7p, 10a-10p, 7p-7a with self-scheduling available; manager schedules travelers
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Required to fill in as needed
• Floating: Not typical but may assist on MSP and ICU units
• Orientation: 3 shifts of 12 hours each

• Successful candidates are motivated, self-starters, committed to excellence, and focused on patient satisfaction
• Facial hair policy: Must pass fit testing for respiratory protection; inability to pass due to facial hair may result in contract cancellation
• Radius Rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Dakota
• Specialty Experience: ER nursing experience (minimum 1 year recommended based on typical ER RN requirements)
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Orientation & Onboarding

• Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start
• No additional RTO extensions will be approved
