Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – Dialysis

Location: Bryan, Texas
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit: Dialysis Suite
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 2:1 and 1:1 treatments
• Common Patient Diagnoses: End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), acute renal failure, peritoneal dialysis patients
• Patient Care Areas: Acute hemodialysis suite and ICU (1:1 care)

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – AHA
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) – AHA or APEX

Required Skills and Experience

• General acute care dialysis nursing competencies
• AVF/AVG cannulation and CVC access
• Recognition and management of hemodialysis complications and emergencies
• Peritoneal dialysis site and catheter care, including initiation and termination
• Ability to titrate Heparin drips
• Familiarity with set rate drips such as amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone

Work Schedule and Requirements

• Shifts: 12-hour shifts per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday (maximum)
• Holiday Requirement: Rotate with core staff
• On-Call: One night per week and every other Sunday (maximum)
• Floating: Primary float between Bryan and College Station campuses (16 minutes apart) as needed
• Orientation: General paperwork orientation on first shift, followed by unit-specific orientation (at least one shift)
• Shift Start Times: Rotating 7 AM and 11 AM starts every other week, plus required call

Additional Information

• Call-outs are strongly discouraged and may lead to termination
• May be asked to precept new staff as needed
• Patients in acute suite are on tele monitors with monitor techs reading strips; ICU patients have bedside and central monitoring
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Respiratory equipment (vents, HiFlow, CPAP, BiPap) present only in ICU with ICU RN and RT
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Candidates previously employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
