Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery

Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide nursing care for Labor & Delivery (L&D) patients, including high-risk deliveries, postpartum mother and baby care, and gynecological surgical postoperative care. The role includes floating to the newborn nursery and NICU as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Dakota
  • Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Postpartum nursing experience
  • OB/GYN nursing experience

Job Duties

  • Care for L&D patients during labor and delivery, including high-risk cases
  • Postpartum care for mother and baby
  • Gynecological surgical postoperative care
  • Use of fetal monitors, suction, oxygen, vital signs monitors
  • Documentation using OBIX and EPIC systems
  • Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios:
    • 1:1 or 1:2 for L&D
    • 1:3 for mom/baby couplets
    • 1:4 for gynecology patients
    • Combination care ratio approximately 1:5-6

Additional Information

  • 36-hour orientation program for travelers
  • Must badge in and out at the facility
  • Local travelers with permanent addresses within 80 miles are not accepted
  • Must disclose if previously worked at this facility with at least a 6-month gap before reapplying

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts primarily, with some day shifts
  • Every other weekend and holiday required
