Surgical Tech - OR Tech

Location: Burien, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

A hospital in Washington is seeking an experienced Surgical Tech for a travel contract in the Operating Room (OR). The position involves working primarily in orthopedic and podiatry cases, with additional cases in general surgery, gynecology, robotics, and spine surgeries.

Schedule & Work Details

• Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM
• Call: Required; approximately 1 shift per weekday and about one weekend per month on a rotating basis
• Call Response Time: 30 minutes
• Cases per Day: Average 15 cases, may start with fewer and add on
• OR Suites: 9 rooms total, 6 utilized regularly, including specialty rooms for cystoscopy and robotics
• Orientation: Up to 3 days, depending on skill set
• Floating: Not required
• Scrub Color: Provided
• EMR System: EPIC

Patient Care & Team Environment

• Common Case Types:

  • 60% Orthopedic and podiatry
  • General surgery, gynecology, robotics, and spine cases
• IV Team: Available
• Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 coverage
• Pharmacy: Available until 11 PM
• Surgeon On Call: Night coverage by surgeon
• Charge Nurse: Yes, no charge when on call
• Team Environment: Positive attitude and team player preferred
• Robotics Experience: Preferred or willingness to learn

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of OR Tech experience, with orthopedic experience required
• Active BLS Certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential
• Valid Washington State license at time of application

Additional Notes

• Call rotation includes weekdays and weekends, coordinated with permanent staff
• Robotics experience is a plus but not mandatory
• The role does not require OR nurses to scrub; anesthesia team handles that
• The position requires a positive, team-oriented attitude
