Unit & Patient Population

• Med/Surg unit with focus on post-surgical patients (orthopedics, general surgery)
• Neuro populations

Requirements

• Licenses/Certifications:

  • RN license in Louisiana or compact license
  • BLS certification
• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in nursing specialty (Med/Surg/Neuro)
• Skills:

  • EPIC experience required
• Schedule:

  • Weekend shifts may be required based on need
  • No on-call required
  • Floating to other units is a possibility
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing

Job Summary

• Independently provide routine and complex nursing care
• Utilize nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Manage psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments, monitor side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
