Cardiac Cath Lab Tech - Travel Position

Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist I plays a critical role in supporting cardiac catheterization procedures by preparing the lab and operating essential equipment such as fluoro imaging and digital image acquisition. This position ensures accurate documentation of patient information and hemodynamic measurements while maintaining strict aseptic technique and patient safety standards. The technologist collaborates closely with the medical team to optimize patient care and departmental efficiency and serves as the radiation safety representative during X-ray use.

  • TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
  • Device implantations

Work Schedule

  • Dayshift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
  • Weekend requirement: Every third or fourth weekend
  • On-call requirement: Yes, scheduled collaboratively with staff

Requirements

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Radiologic Technologist License (Louisiana State Board of Radiology)
  • Current ARRT Radiologic Technologist National License
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred and highly encouraged

Education

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology Technology, or
  • Associate’s degree in a healthcare-related field, or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the specialty (acute care setting preferred)

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not explicitly required

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure major equipment is operational and document quality control
  • Participate in daily room checks and supply stocking
  • Review daily patient schedule and prepare appropriate equipment and room setup
  • Collaborate with procedure team and Cath Lab Lead/Coordinator for patient care and efficiency
  • Enter patient information accurately into cath lab computer and imaging systems
  • Document procedures, hemodynamic measurements, and ECG recognition
  • Ensure patient positioning and safety during procedures
  • Train and maintain competency in operating cath lab equipment including:
    • X-Ray imaging, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), intracardiac echo (ICE)
    • Contrast injector, hemodynamic system
    • Intra-aortic balloon pump, rotational atherectomy, thrombectomy, LV assist device
  • Support physicians during procedures, ensuring patient safety and aseptic technique
  • Act as radiation safety representative during X-ray use
  • Adhere to infection control, patient privacy, and safety policies
  • Engage in patient transport as needed
  • Support departmental goals including Zero Harm and customer service initiatives
  • Uphold organizational values and participate in unit councils and process improvement
