Unit Overview

16-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Patient ratios typically 1:2, 1:1 for certain device patients
Unit staffing includes free-floating charge nurse support, unit secretary, and administrative care tech (M-F 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM)
Student Nurse Externs assist with tech duties on variable shifts
Equipment includes Phillips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, and Alaris IV pumps
Documentation system: Meditech
Scheduling requires 2 weekends per month and coverage of specific holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day)
Floating policy: Travel nurses float as needed, typically to other ICUs or floors
No specific patient experience requirements

Job Responsibilities

Provide care to immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including those on ECMO, Centrimags, and HM3 LVADs
Perform procedures such as central line insertion, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, and intubations on unit
Manage advanced hemodynamic monitoring including PA catheter use
Care for patients with intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Impella devices, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Tennessee
Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Current ACLS and BLS certifications
Advanced skills with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring
