Job Opportunity: Medical Lab Technologist

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Evenings, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
Schedule: Weekend and holiday rotations required
Patient Population: Inpatient and outreach laboratory services
Facility Bed Count: Approximately 200 beds

Job Description

• Generalist Medical Laboratory Technologist working across all laboratory areas
• Perform high complexity testing in a CLIA-certified laboratory
• Utilize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), preferably with strong communication skills
• Charting system used: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist within the last year
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Clinical Laboratory Science
• Certification required: Medical Technologist Certification (e.g., ASCP, NCA, AMT, HEW)
• Working knowledge and experience in a CLIA-certified laboratory performing high complexity testing
• Experience with Roche Cobas instrumentation
• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (two MMR vaccines or proof of immunity via titer)
• Tuberculosis (TB) screening within 3 months prior to start date (skin test or blood test) and updated if there is a break in service longer than 6 months
• Physician-signed health statement within 1 year of start date, updated if break in service exceeds 6 months
• Hepatitis B vaccination strongly preferred (3 doses or proof of immunity)
• Tdap vaccination preferred (within last 10 years)
• Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, national sex offender registry, and exclusion lists (OIG, GSA, Medicaid) must be completed and cleared prior to start
• Verification of education and professional license through primary source required within 30 days of start
• Submission of a detailed resume covering the last 7 years of work experience
• Two professional references required, including at least one supervisor-level reference within the last 4 years
• Completion of a skills checklist within 1 year of submission
• Candidate submission coversheet required for initial assignment

Additional Notes

• Weekend and holiday work is mandatory
• Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement
• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment
• Compliance with all state and facility-specific credentialing and onboarding requirements is mandatory
