Registered Nurse – Telemetry I

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Nights and Every Other Weekend (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Unit: 32-bed Ortho/Neuro Med/Surg unit (Phippen 6/7)
Patient Population: Scheduled elective Orthopedic and Neuro/Surgical patients, fractures, neuro patients, and medical overflow
Patient Ratio:

• Day and Evening shifts: 1:4 (may go up to 1:5)
• Night shift: 1:5 or 1:6

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a telemetry unit with orthopedic and neurological medical/surgical patients.
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Required to float to other applicable units as needed.
• Night positions do not rotate shifts; day rotators may be rotated between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a shifts with low frequency.
• Use of EPIC electronic medical record system for charting.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
• Minimum 2 years working in one location as an RN
• Minimum 2 years working as a travel nurse
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Neuro assessment skills
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips

Additional Requirements

• Must complete primary source verification of professional license and certifications within 30 days of start date.
• N95 respirator fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually (no exemptions allowed).
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is needed.
• Passing scores on medication and dysrhythmia exams (80% minimum) within 365 days.
• Documentation of immunity or vaccination for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR).
• TB screening documentation within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months.
• Physician health statement within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months.
• Criminal background check, Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks must be completed and updated as required.
• Submission of a detailed resume including 7 years of work experience with city and state.
• Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher.
• Completion of skills checklist within 1 year.
• Confirmation of assignment form required upon acceptance and for extensions.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is required (minimum 2 years as a traveler).
• Floating to other units is mandatory when requested.
• Night shift positions do not rotate.
• This is a telemetry nursing role; ability to interpret telemetry strips is essential.
