Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room

Location: Fort Madison, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department.
  • Responsible for assessing patient needs, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Must be able to triage patients safely, rapidly, and accurately.
  • Coordinate care between multiple professional disciplines as needed.
  • Upon acceptance, traveler must self-study telemetry strips and pass a basic dysrhythmia test during the first week to continue working in the Emergency Department.

Required Experience

  • Specialty: RN Emergency Room

Certifications & Licenses (Required Before or Upon Start)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

  • NIH Stroke Certification (AHA only, renews every two years)
  • Valid RN License with primary source verification (BON & NURSYS for RNs)
  • Other required professional verifications and background checks as per facility policy

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • COVID-19 Vaccine (declination accepted)
  • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
  • Hepatitis B (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
  • Tdap (valid for 10 years; declination accepted)
  • Fit Test for approved respirators (completed prior to start)
  • TB Test (negative test within past year or documentation if history of positive test)
  • Influenza Vaccine (seasonal, Sept 1 – March 31; vaccine or facility declination accepted)
  • Health Statement from physician within last 12 months
  • Drug Screen (10 panel, within 30 days of start)

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific skills checklist and CPI/MOAB training for ER RNs
  • Background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender registry, and others within 30 days of start
  • Adult and Child Abuse clearance (state requirement)
  • Education verification through third party
  • Professional references (2 required, including 1 supervisor)
  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Completion of OSHA questionnaire and other facility onboarding attestations
