Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department.
• Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient needs and priorities.
• Safely, rapidly, and accurately triage every patient entering the emergency care system.
• Coordinate care with other professional disciplines as needed.
• Cerner EMR experience is required.
• A Basic Dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to continue working in the Emergency Department.
• While not part of a regular call rotation, may occasionally be placed on call during low census periods; must be able to respond and arrive on-site within one hour if called.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience.
• Emergency Department experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Experience with Cerner EMR system.

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Occasional on-call availability expected.
• Must be able to pass a dysrhythmia test during the first week of assignment.
