Job Description

Seeking an experienced CVOR Registered Nurse with a minimum of 4 years of recent full-time experience in a high-volume hospital setting. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures.

• Must be able to function independently in a fast-paced surgical environment and "hit the ground running."
• Candidates requiring extensive onboarding or with less experience will not be considered.
• Verifiable references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed are required.
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM on weekdays (based on department needs).
• Participation in call coverage after normal business hours and on weekends is required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Minimum 4 years of CVOR nursing experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
• Completion of two or more travel assignments
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete and maintain the following:

• Specialty competency exam with a minimum passing score (updated every 3 years).
• Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and National Patient Safety Goals (updated every 3 years).
• Color vision test (updated every 3 years).
• Health and immunization requirements including:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA, chest X-ray if positive, annual questionnaire)
• Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite).
• Drug screening (12-panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
• Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, and National Sex Offender registry (updated annually).
• Employment and education verifications.
• Driver’s license or state ID (must be current and match address requirements).

Additional Notes

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Prior travel experience is required, demonstrated by references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed.
• This is a fast-paced surgical environment requiring strong clinical skills and adaptability.
