Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical First Assist

Location: Brookfield, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday to Friday
• Schedule: One rotating day off per week
• Call: Based on department needs; currently 1-2 weeknight call shifts per week
• Weekend Coverage: 2 full 24-hour weekends per 4-week schedule, holidays as needed
• Experience Required:

  • Neuro, Robotics, Orthopedics (including total joints), Vascular, Urology, General surgery
  • Previous surgical tech experience preferred
  • Experience with EPIC system preferred
• Flexibility: May need to float onsite within skill set or to sites within 40 miles if needed

Required Qualifications

• Surgical First Assistant with a minimum of 1 year of experience
• Surgical First Assistant experience within the last year
• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) license required
• BLS (must be AHA certified)

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

• Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
• Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics (updated every 3 years)
• Completion of surgical technologist onboarding education attestation prior to clearance
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (updated annually)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • Varicella immunity proof or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years, no declinations accepted)
• Drug screening: 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Background checks: Criminal background, EPLS, employment and education verifications, professional references
• Skills checklist and specialty exam demonstrating competency in area of specialization (updated annually)
• Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
• Driver’s license or state ID verification

• Must maintain compliance with all facility and system policies and procedures
• Professionalism and ability to work in a team environment required
• Ability to adapt to floating assignments within the skill set and geographic area
