PCU Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Lees Summit, Missouri
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–7:15
• 36 hours per week
• Ratios: 1:5
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• First-timers accepted
• Community Hospital setting
• 240 staffed beds, including a 16-bed ICU

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 2 years of nursing experience
• Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• Experience in a hospital setting
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience
• ED - Emergency Department experience
• Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
• DOU - Direct Observation Unit experience
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period, with a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• No more than 7 days of RTO
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Pending license not accepted

• Previous charge experience
• CPI

Clinical Skills and Experience

• MS/Tele, Telemetry Oncology, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Rapid Response Team use
• Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, and Pre/Post Cardiac Cath
• Feeding tube care and management
• Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management and renal failure
• Blood product administration
• Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
• Starting IVs
• Heparin protocols
• Manage cardiac drips and vasoactive drips, no titration
• PCA
• CVA
• Surgical drains
• Chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy management
• Isolation precautions
• Wound care and wound vac

Preferred Skills

• Sheath removal
• Accessing ports
• Phlebotomy
• Total joint replacements

• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
