Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a community hospital PCU unit requiring 2 years of recent specialty experience and both Kansas/Missouri or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Community hospital setting on a Med/Surg Tele (MS/Tele) unit functioning as a PCU
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• Weekend requirement of 8 shifts per 6-week schedule, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call requirement
• Charting completed in EPIC
• Cares for patients with AMI, cardiac arrhythmia, heart failure, chest pain, vascular/PVD, sepsis, pneumonia, ETOH withdrawal, SI, GI bleed, and pre/post cath conditions
• Uses telemetry monitoring equipment

Requirements

• Active RN license required; must hold both Missouri and Kansas licenses or a compact license in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS and CPI preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Community hospital experience required
• Previous charge RN experience preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response team utilization
• Experience with IV therapy including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line management, blood product administration, and starting IVs
• Respiratory skills including chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), heparin protocols, and PCA
• Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions
• Experience with feeding tube care, hemodialysis management, and renal failure care preferred
• Sheath removal, port accessing, phlebotomy, and total joint replacement experience preferred
• Prior travel RN experience required
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide bedside nursing care within an intermediate/step-down level of care unit
• Navy scrub color required
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time-off requests finalized at time of submission and no additional requests permitted after offer or onsite
• Returning staff must have at least 18 months tenure with a 3-month break in service; permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler

• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
