Travel/Contract Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Location: Omaha, Nebraska
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Unit: Mixed-acuity adult oncology / med-surg float role
  • Floating: Required frequently; travelers are first to float and may be assigned to multiple units within scope

Key Responsibilities

  • Care for adult oncology patients receiving chemotherapy or high-dose chemotherapy, including patients with bone marrow/stem cell transplant needs
  • Provide complex medication and blood product administration support
  • Be prepared to care for up to five med-surg patients
  • Manage drips on all floors
  • Do not administer chemotherapy

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Nebraska
  • Telemetry (2 years of experience)
  • Telemetry experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Driver's License
  • 2 years of prior experience in a large, urban hospital
  • Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS
  • Chemo experience

Scheduling / Assignment Expectations

  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period
  • Holiday requirement: work 2 of 3 major holiday periods
  • Up to 2 weeks of requested time off permitted
  • First-time travelers are not accepted, unless the traveler has 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center

Compliance / Onboarding Notes

  • Pending license accepted; if not in hand at submission, start will be scheduled 6 weeks out
  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Background check, education verification, references, skills checklist, and annual health/compliance documentation are required
  • 100% nicotine-free facility

Dress Code

  • Steele gray scrubs with the Nebraska Medicine logo on the back are required

Parking

  • Parking permit available for approximately $55/month, or daily parking is available for $3 per 20 hours
