Travel/Contract Registered Nurse

Overview

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment type: Travel/Contract
Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Hours per week: 36
Unit: Mixed-acuity adult oncology / med-surg float role
Floating: Required frequently; travelers are first to float and may be assigned to multiple units within scope

Key Responsibilities

Care for adult oncology patients receiving chemotherapy or high-dose chemotherapy, including patients with bone marrow/stem cell transplant needs
Provide complex medication and blood product administration support
Be prepared to care for up to five med-surg patients
Manage drips on all floors
Do not administer chemotherapy

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Nebraska
Telemetry (2 years of experience)
Telemetry experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Driver's License
2 years of prior experience in a large, urban hospital
Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

ACLS
Chemo experience

Scheduling / Assignment Expectations

Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period
Holiday requirement: work 2 of 3 major holiday periods
Up to 2 weeks of requested time off permitted
First-time travelers are not accepted, unless the traveler has 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center

Compliance / Onboarding Notes

Pending license accepted; if not in hand at submission, start will be scheduled 6 weeks out
Government-issued photo ID required
Background check, education verification, references, skills checklist, and annual health/compliance documentation are required
100% nicotine-free facility

Dress Code

Steele gray scrubs with the Nebraska Medicine logo on the back are required

Parking

Parking permit available for approximately $55/month, or daily parking is available for $3 per 20 hours
