Labor and Delivery Nurse

Overview

• Travel/contract position in North Kansas City, Missouri
• Start date: ASAP
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Night shift: 18:45–07:15
• Schedule: 3x12 hours
• Every third weekend required
• 36 hours per week
• Locals accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
• NRP
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Cerner

Preferred Qualifications

• AWHONN Advanced
• Charge experience
• CPI starting in January 2026

Clinical Experience / Skills

• Required: blood and blood product administration, CVC/PICC line care, peripheral IV start and maintenance, medication administration including anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and oxytocin, circumcision assistance, car seat education, cord care, discharge teaching, IV antibiotics, newborn assessment, neonatal abstinence syndrome care, pain management, baby-friendly protocols, couplet care, incision care, isolation precautions, phlebotomy, and vaccine administration
• Preferred: phototherapy, circumcision care teaching, thermoregulation, large-for-gestational-age and low-birth-weight infant care, epidural and PCA IV pain management, and breastfeeding pump use

• Every candidate must complete a skills checklist
• 2 recent references required
• Candidate application or resume required
• Background check required before start
• Drug screen required within 3 months of start
• Negative TB screening or chest X-ray required within 1 year of start
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start
• Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella immunity documentation required
• Safe medication administration agreement required
• Annual training and competency requirements apply, including EKG/dysrhythmia testing and unit-specific CEUs
