PACU

Overview

• Travel/contract RN role in Saint Louis, Missouri.
• Day shift: 4x10 hours, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM.
• Schedule is Monday through Friday; no weekends, no holiday, and no call.
• This is a critical care RN role for procedural pre-op and post-op care for endo and IR patients.
• The unit has 38 rooms and an average daily census of 70–90.
• First-timers are accepted.
• Pending license is accepted.
• Locals are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.
• RTO restriction: no more than 7 days.
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks.
• Float scope: only to PACU or PreOp units.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience with 2 years of experience
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• Experience in a Critical Care setting
• Experience in an Inpatient setting
• Epic experience
• Dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Blood product administration
• Phlebotomy
• Starting IVs
• IV vasopressors
• ICP monitoring
• Care of ventilated patients

Unit / Patient Population

• Adult patients, with occasional adolescents and geriatric patients.
• Recovery includes neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases.
• The unit does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants.
• The unit has its own PCT/transport team.
• The unit is open 24/7 and consists of 38 patient bays.
• Night shift staff would need to learn how to work up a pre-op patient.
