Registered Nurse - PCU/MI (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lees Summit, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Progressive Care Unit / Medical Intermediate (PCU/MI)
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
• Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Weekend Requirement: 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period (Friday, Saturday, Sunday combination)
• Floating: Regular floating within scope may be required between departments, units, and facilities
• Charge RN and holiday shifts assigned as needed
• Block scheduling not accommodated
• Local candidates not accepted (home must be at least 75 miles from facility)
• No on-call required
• Guaranteed minimum: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
• Special patient population: Post-cardiac catheterization patients
• Facility type: Community hospital with 240 staffed beds, including a 16-bed ICU
• Charting system: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing
• Ability to titrate cardiac drips

Compliance and Facility Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific orientation modules (~16 hours) via online platform before start
• Required facility documents to be signed and uploaded prior to start:

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
  • Confidentiality Form (annual)
  • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual, 80% passing score)
  • Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
  • Fingernail Policy acknowledgment
  • Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
• Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) registration required for applicable roles
• Fingerprinting required for assignments involving long-term care or rehab units in Illinois (if applicable)

Additional Notes

• No pending licenses accepted
• Return-to-work restrictions: No more than 7 days
• Candidates must be prepared to float as needed within the facility
• Candidates must meet all health and immunization requirements prior to start
• Drug testing panels must include Oxycodone and be updated annually
• Flu vaccination documentation must include vaccine name, date, and provider information or approved exemption
• Candidates failing fit mask testing may require quantitative testing and facility approval for alternative respiratory protection

This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical intermediate care who are comfortable working night shifts in a telemetry setting and managing post-cardiac cath patients. The role requires flexibility to float between units and meet weekend shift requirements.
