Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day (4x12 hours, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) with possible night shift rotation (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Hours per week: 48
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Call Requirements:
- Weeknight call: 1-2 nights per week on average
- Weekend call: Approximately every 4-5 weeks (24 hours on Saturday or Sunday, 1-2 days per month)
- Off-shifting: Possible 1-3 shifts per 4-week scheduling period, but often no off-shifting
- Block scheduling is NOT accommodated
- Facility is 100% nicotine free
- Scrubs provided for OR/SPT
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Candidate Requirements & Conditions
- Must be located more than 100 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 30 days of start and updated annually, including multi-county and nationwide checks
- SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days of start and monthly thereafter
- Education verification required
- State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required within 30 days of start
- Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required prior to start
- Annual skills checklist required
- Two professional references from work within the past 2 years required
- Physical exam and fit mask test (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+) required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually (urine panel including multiple substances)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire annually
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (boosters if low/equivocal titers)
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters if low/equivocal titers)
- Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
- COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted
- Baseline eye exam (Snellen) required within 30 days of start (OR staff only)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, and medication/pharmacology competency exams required as applicable per unit description
Additional Notes
- Call-back pay applies only if called back after leaving the facility post-shift
- Extended shifts due to census or case overruns are paid at regular or overtime rates, no clocking out/in for extended shifts
- Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply
- Scrubs provided by the facility for OR/SPT staff
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong neuro and robotic surgery skills who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable with rotating shifts and call requirements.
