Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Night Shift

Location

  • Fayetteville, North Carolina

Employment Type

  • Travel / Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:00 - 6:00)
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holidays required
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
  • No block scheduling accommodation
  • Locals not accepted (must be outside 50-mile radius from main campus)
  • Call-off policy: Up to 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; beyond that, contracted hours are guaranteed
  • Return to work restrictions: Must be gone 1 year to return as a traveler; max 2 contracts allowed (one extension possible), then must be gone 6 months before returning

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)

Certifications (must be current and renewed prior to start if expiring the month of start)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Military only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Military only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Military only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for Labor & Delivery, FCCU, NICU units
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Annual renewal required
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – Required for ICU and related units; candidates have 3 attempts to pass with remediation steps if needed
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – Annual renewal required

Background and Health Requirements

  • Background check required within 6 months of start (includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable)
  • Education verification related to specialty required (high school verification not accepted)
  • Physical exam within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C; annual update required
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; annual TB screening form required thereafter
  • Drug screen: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, methamphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene, marijuana)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • TDAP within last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
    • Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
    • Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season (8/1/2025 - 3/31/2026) or approved medical/religious exemption; declinations not accepted
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required but documentation is accepted if available

  • Must submit a professional, passport-style photo for badge (no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors; head coverings allowed only for religious reasons)
  • Must complete and sign various facility forms prior to start, including:
    • Agency Personnel Form
    • Emergency Contact Form
    • Confidentiality and Information Agreement
    • Patient Identification Agreement
    • Conflict of Interest Questionnaire
    • Staff Call Out Acknowledgement
    • Corporate Code of Conduct Acknowledgement
    • Policy Tech Access Acknowledgement
    • Professional Appearance Acknowledgment
    • Parking Registration (if driving to work)
    • Computer Use Acknowledgement
    • Flu Acknowledgement Form
  • Must review and sign Respiratory Therapist job description prior to start
  • Must complete required orientation and facility modules prior to start (due Monday before start date)
  • Return to work policy: Must be off assignment for 1 year before returning as a traveler; max 2 contracts allowed with one extension, then 6 months off before returning

Additional Notes

  • Must be comfortable working in ICU with both pediatric and adult patients
  • Floating between like units is required
  • Only 4 days of requested time off allowed during assignment, no holidays off
  • Callouts for scheduled shifts require makeup shifts as deemed necessary by department
