Pediatric ER Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Worcester, Massachusetts

Position Details

• Job Title: Pediatric ER Registered Nurse
• Location: Worcester, MA
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (11:00 AM to 11:30 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required
• Shift Flexibility: Start time flexible within ±4 hours based on department needs

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Emergency Room (ER) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Identification: Valid driver’s license or state ID required
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county, national, and federal databases
  • Annual background check update required for direct candidates
• Education Verification: Third-party verification of highest completed education or transcript with graduation date (diplomas not accepted)
• Statewide Clearances: Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable (two PPDs or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days)
  • Required immunizations or documented immunity/declinations (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, TDAP, Flu, COVID-19) with some declinations not accepted for Pediatrics
  • Drug test within 30 days of start covering a comprehensive panel of substances
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required for all RNs
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 6 months and annually for RNs in acute/critical care areas (strongly recommended to pass prior to start)
  • Pass/fail medication and telemetry exams (if applicable) with minimum 80% score on first day of orientation
• References: Two professional references within the last three years
• Employment History: Application must include 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills Checklist: Required prior to start and updated annually as applicable

Additional Notes

• Candidates declining updated COVID-19 vaccine or other required immunizations must complete facility-specific declination forms; some declinations are not accepted for pediatric areas.
• Failure to pass required competency exams on the first attempt may result in immediate cancellation of the assignment.
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific and state requirements for licensure, background checks, and health documentation.

This position is ideal for experienced Pediatric ER RNs with required certifications and licensure who are comfortable working flexible day shifts in a fast-paced emergency setting.
