Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Position in a maternity float pool requiring flexibility to work both Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Postpartum (PP) units (true LDRP role).
• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 7:15), totaling 36 hours per week.
• Every other weekend and holiday required.
• Start dates limited to June 10 or June 24 only.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum 2 years of recent (within the last year) Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) experience.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NRP issued by the American Heart Association.
• AWHONN certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with Labor and Delivery nursing.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Orientation & Testing Requirements

• Two pass/fail exams at orientation: Medication exam and Telemetry exam.
• Only one attempt allowed per exam; failure results in immediate contract cancellation.
• Telemetry exam required for RNs working in units with telemetry monitoring, including L&D.
• Study materials provided prior to exams.
• Minimum passing score: 80%.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI (criminal background) clearance required within 30 days prior to start.
• 7-year criminal background check covering all counties lived/worked in within 30 days of start.
• Education verification of highest completed degree (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable).
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
• Drug test within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required).
• Immunizations or valid declinations required for:

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination)
  • Influenza (seasonal vaccine or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for maternity)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, reactive titer, or declination with documentation)
• TB testing: Two PPDs (one within 90 days, one within 1 year) or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; positive results require chest X-ray and TB questionnaire.
• Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all candidates in MA (not required for subcontractors).
• Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Two professional references within the last three years.
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually as applicable.

Additional Notes

• Up to 5 days of Return to Orientation (RTO) allowed.
• Local candidates eligible for same pay rate as travelers.
• Candidates must be aware that failure to pass required exams at orientation will result in immediate contract cancellation.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs comfortable with maternity float roles, telemetry monitoring, and working night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
