Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 48
Job Description
- Requires floating to multiple units including NICU, PICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Medical-Surgical as needed.
- Must be willing to comply with facility float expectations and accept appropriate assignments in these areas.
- Prefers close to 2 years of nursing experience.
- Two supervisory references required; one must be from a supervisor or manager. Peer references are not acceptable.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Minimum of 1 year of Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) experience within the last year.
- Current certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (facility accepts Infection Control Policy signature in lieu of physical copy).
- TB testing options: Two PPDs or IGRA (QGOLD/TSPOT) within 12 months; additional requirements if positive.
- Annual N95 fit testing required; acceptable masks specified. Onsite testing allowed if prior testing not completed.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start (no titer substitution).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titer negative or equivocal. Religious exemptions not accepted.
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titer negative or equivocal.
- Hepatitis B: Declination, completed 3-vaccine series, or positive titer required.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required between October 31 and May 31; medical/religious exemptions require facility approval and mask-wearing during flu season.
- Drug screen must include amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, methadone, phencyclidine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine (if separate).
- Background checks include sex offender search, state-specific searches (Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, Abuse Registry).
Additional Requirements
- Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed, signed, and uploaded prior to start.
- Affiliating Health Record must be completed and address must match driver's license and employment application exactly.
- Fit test proof of appointment required if completing onsite.
- Fingerprint screening questions must be completed prior to start.
- TB questionnaire required for candidates with positive TB results.
- Flu exemption policy applies to candidates with approved flu vaccine exemptions.
- Employment application and copy of resume required.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
Notes
- Candidates with Ohio driver’s license address within 60 miles of the facility will be considered local and may not qualify as travelers.
- Floating to multiple units is mandatory; flexibility is essential.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Must have 2 professional supervisory references; peer references are not accepted.
- All certifications must have the candidate’s legal name exactly as on RN license; no nicknames or misspellings allowed.
- Screenshots or photos of certifications and immunizations are not acceptable for compliance documentation.
