Registered Nurse – Outpatient Surgery

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Overview

• Work setting: Outpatient Surgery with 13 operating rooms
• Patient population: Infants through geriatrics
• Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (6:45 AM – 5:15 PM)
• Call: No call required, but must provide coverage for cases that run late
• Floating: Yes, within OR departments
• Weekend schedule: Every other weekend unless otherwise specified
• Holidays: Required to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
• Electronic systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub color: Provided by facility
• Return to office (RTO): Maximum 7 days per contract

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in Outpatient Surgery
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification

Compliance & Screening

• Full compliance with credentialing and onboarding required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
• Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit before final approval
• Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification and national criminal searches
• Drug screen: Negative 10-panel drug test within 60 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
• Physical exam: Required within 12 months prior to start
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or negative chest X-ray if previously positive
  • TB questionnaire updated annually (required regardless of TB result)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters as needed
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters as needed
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required by agency)
• Color blindness test (required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain specialties (may apply depending on unit)

Additional Requirements

• Skills checklist updated within the last 12 months
• Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
• Two clinical references required
• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance

• Locals are accepted at the same rate
• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Floating within OR departments expected
• Must be prepared to work major holidays as outlined above
