Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Dallas, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• 4 days per week (rotating Monday through Friday)
• 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
• On-call, weekends, and holidays may be required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year, minimum 1 year of experience
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing
• Pass/Fail Testing including EKG and Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exams
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Certifications (Must have at start; renew as specified)

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted; must renew with AHA only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for Cath Lab
• Pass/Fail Testing:

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score; two attempts allowed)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (two attempts allowed; required for Cath Lab)
• NIH Stroke Certification – Required for Cath Lab; valid for two years; may be obtained within 30 days of hire onsite

Background and Verification Requirements

• 7-year background check including county criminal search for all locations lived/worked in last 7 years
• Sex offender search
• State police investigation (if applicable)
• Education verification for RN licensure
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• E-Verify or attestation required

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Negative TB test (TSpot or QGold only) within 12 months; annual updates required
• Annual TB questionnaire if previously positive
• Hepatitis B: Proof of vaccine series and positive titer OR signed facility-specific declination form
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titers or documentation of 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers low/equivocal
• Varicella: Positive titers or documentation of 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers low/equivocal
• Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) required
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (rapid screens not accepted)

Additional Requirements

• Copy of valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or passport) matching all documentation
• Photo for badge (passport style, head and shoulders, clear background)
• Completion of facility-specific forms including job description acknowledgment and security forms prior to start
• Two professional references within the last 3 years required
• Fit mask test completed onsite during orientation; updated annually

• Candidates must pass required competency exams within 30 days of start
• Some certifications and exams have specific renewal or validity requirements
• On-call, weekend, and holiday shifts may be part of the assignment
• Facility-specific training such as forensic evidence collection applies to ER RNs but not specified for Cath Lab

This position offers a structured 13-week travel contract with a focus on Cath Lab nursing in a hospital setting, requiring standard RN licensure, core certifications, and compliance with comprehensive background and health screening protocols.
