Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialist

Location: Columbus, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Description

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)
  • Patient Population: Infants to Geriatrics (Primarily Adult RRT, also Pediatric intubated patients)
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS
    • ACLS
    • PALS
    • Georgia RRT License
  • Work Setting:
    • Level 2 trauma center
    • Interventional stroke certified
    • Level 3 NICU (regional transport resource)
  • Clinical Skills:
    • Manage non-invasive and conventional ventilation
    • Aerosol therapy
    • Bedside pulmonary function tests (Spirometry preferred)
    • Perform arterial lines, arterial blood gases, capillary blood gases, and draws from lines
    • Oxygen management and patient education
  • Experience: Trauma experience required
  • Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, Viasys Avea
  • Scrub Color: Slate Gray

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and sister campus as needed
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Holiday Work:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays Include:
    • New Year’s Eve and Day
    • Memorial Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving/Black Friday
    • Christmas Eve and Day

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time
  • Non-compliance results in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)

Required Documentation & Compliance

Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or ARC accepted; RQI certs acceptable)
  • Georgia RRT License
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) if applicable
  • State License verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification (degree or diploma required for RRTs)
  • National certification verification if applicable

Background Checks

  • Background check required within 30 days of start
  • Must include criminal, sex offender, FACIS, and education verification
  • Cannot start with background pending

Health Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable if needed)

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (for RNs and LVNs)
  • Color blind testing (with alternative assessment if needed)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (for applicable specialties)
  • General competency exam for nursing and allied health

Other Requirements

  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Work history verification (can be pending with proof running)
  • Two clinical references required

Additional Notes

  • Floating may include working at sister campus
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress Policy prior to start
