Job Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year scrub tech experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers welcome with prior scrub tech experience
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC as applicable
• Orientation: 2-3 days (20-30 hours)
• Work Schedule:

  • Four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday
  • One rotating day off during the week
  • Mandatory call for weekdays, weekends, holidays, and when OR is closed
  • Expected to scrub cases and take call independently by the 4th day after orientation

Requirements & Compliance

• Licenses & Verifications:

  • State License verification required
  • NURSYS verification for RN, LPN/LVN, Allied Professionals as applicable
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Includes Social Security trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check, education verification
• Health & Safety:

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit test for approved masks within 1 year, renewed annually
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:

    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative 2-step TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
    • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
• Documentation:

  • Clear headshot photo for badge
  • Employment application and resume required
  • 7-year work history verification required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
  • References: 2 professional references for travel/allied/per diem acute care within 2 years of start

Additional Notes

• Scrubs are provided
• Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation for all travelers (New Mexico placements only)
• Candidates must have a valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Mandatory call includes coverage during OR closures
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and HIPAA compliance required

This position is suitable for surgical techs with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable with a travel contract role and mandatory call responsibilities.
