Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Eureka, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Must live at least 35 miles away from the facility (no locals)
• Minimum 1 year experience in Medical-Surgical nursing
• Kansas or Compact nursing license required
• BLS certification required
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – ARC, AHA, or US Department of Defense approved
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – ARC, AHA, or US Department of Defense approved (as required)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – as required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – as required
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as required

Required Background Checks and Verifications

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• State-specific exclusion check for Kansas
• NURSYS verification (for RNs)
• Primary source verification of state license

Required Health Documents

• Initial physical exam, updated annually, confirming ability to meet physical demands
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 1 year plus annual TB questionnaire
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1–3/31) with masking if declined
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved religious/medical exemption (facility-specific forms required)

Documentation and Competency Requirements

• Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
• Completed employment application/resume
• Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Core competency exams as applicable
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)

Additional Notes

• Religious and medical exemptions for COVID-19 and flu vaccines must be completed on facility-specific forms and reviewed by the facility
• Background checks must cover all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
• Evaluations required if previously worked with the agency for over 1 or 2 years

This position is ideal for RNs with Med-Surg experience seeking a travel contract in Kansas with a 13-week assignment.
