Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med Surgical) - Travel/Contract

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• Preferred: NIHSS

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, criminal, federal, FACIS III, education verification, and international checks if applicable
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required for highest level of education (ADN or BSN mandatory)
• Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) fingerprinting required if no Illinois state license
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Drug testing: 9-panel minimum within 30 days of start, updated annually
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
• Immunizations and titers required within 2 business days of contract signing:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with questionnaire if positive)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation required for 2025-26 season; religious or medical exemptions require facility approval

Documentation Required

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Photo for badge (passport style, plain background, no headgear)
• Employment application with last 7 years of employment history and explanation of any gaps over 30 days
• Two professional references
• Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units
• Work history verification for 7 years (third party or in-house)
• Background attestation if recent background check is pending
• Facility-specific COVID-19 and Influenza exemption forms if applicable (must be completed and approved at least one week prior to documentation due date)

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required for this position
• Candidates must be able to float to other units as needed
• All certifications must be current and meet facility standards (no RQI provider acceptance except AHA)
• Candidates without an Illinois state license must complete fingerprinting in Illinois only, no out-of-state prints accepted

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of Med Surgical experience who is comfortable with floating, weekend shifts every other weekend, and working within a structured travel contract environment.
