Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Position available for Hospice House LPN/LVN or RN.
• This is a four-bed hospice house caring for patients with a terminal diagnosis, typically with four weeks or less to live.
• Schedule includes every other weekend.
• Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
• Minimum of 2 years of hospice nursing experience required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Experience with Epic electronic health records system required.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• State nursing license (Wisconsin or Compact License) with primary source verification prior to start.
• NURSYS verification required prior to start.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit.
• Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, CPI may be required depending on assignment specifics.

Compliance & Background Checks

• Criminal background check within 12 months of start, including SSN trace, 7-year county residency/work history, nationwide search, and sex offender search.
• State-specific caregiver screening required for Wisconsin.
• Drug screening negative within 12 months of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health.
• Fit mask testing to be completed onsite during orientation.
• TB testing (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest x-ray within 5 years if positive PPD.
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season.
• COVID vaccination preferred but not mandatory.

Orientation & Training Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to or during assignment.
• Completion of confidentiality, security agreements, and standards of ethical conduct forms prior to start.
• Respirator fit testing and OSHA Respiratory Clearance required prior to start.
• Post-start orientation checklists must be completed during orientation and returned within the first week.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must provide a clear, passport-style photo for badge issuance.
• Prior travel experience is mandatory; candidates must have completed at least one prior travel contract.
• This position is not open to first-time travelers.
