Job Opportunity: Case Manager Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Long Beach, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Role: Case Manager RN
• Must have Level 1 Trauma experience
• Inpatient case management experience from acute care required
• Case management experience must be in Southern California
• Proficiency with EPIC documentation system required
• Weekend shifts required, scheduled per department needs
• Scheduling type: Self-managed

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 3 years preferred
• Case management experience specifically in Southern California
• First-time travelers accepted
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Required Certifications & Licenses

• California RN license (primary source verification required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required depending on qualification (refer to facility guidelines)
• NIH Stroke Certification required for ICU and ER (if applicable)

Documentation & Competency Requirements

• EPIC Education Certificate of Completion required before or at start
• HIPAA Education Certificate of Completion required before or at start
• Medication Calculation Test required for all RNs
• EKG competency exam required for departments with cardiac monitoring
• Color Blind Testing (annual)
• Competency exams as per specialty and profession (updated within 2 years)
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required; remediation offered if needed

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually
• TDAP vaccine within last 10 years (declination allowed)
• Negative TB test (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-Step PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
• TB Questionnaire annually regardless of TB status
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (excluding marijuana panel due to CA state law)
• Seasonal flu vaccine required November 1 - April 30 (declination allowed)
• COVID vaccination record preferred

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references required
• Employment application required
• Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
• Annual internal evaluation if employed for 1 year or more

Time Off & Scheduling

• Pre-approved time off must be included at time of submission and is at manager’s discretion

• Local candidates within 50 miles may be eligible for local rate
• Floating and on-call requirements: Not applicable
• Facility-specific policies on dress, hand hygiene, and drug/alcohol free policy must be reviewed

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with acute care case management background in Southern California who are comfortable with EPIC and weekend scheduling.
