Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Topeka, Kansas
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Perform a variety of diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures using radioactive materials.
  • Understand theories and principles behind Nuclear Medicine/Nuclear Cardiology equipment and tests.
  • Perform IV puncture and proper injection techniques for radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Prepare and administer I-131 thyroid therapies.
  • Produce quality studies to meet physician and customer needs; may provide preliminary findings.
  • Conduct quality control on instruments and review calibration data to detect malfunctions.
  • Physically able to lift or move 4 to 5 patients daily.
  • Assist in training new staff members.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (5 days a week).

Required Qualifications

  • Certification: ARRT and CNMT required.
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years in Nuclear Medicine specialty.
  • Licensure: Must hold a valid Nuclear Medicine Tech license/certification as applicable.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
    • ACLS, PALS, NRP - As required
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year background check (updated annually)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (annual)
    • Education verification required
  • Competency Exams: Required within 1 year of start and updated annually (medication/pharmacology and specialty competency).
  • Health Requirements:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
    • Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
    • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start with MRO signature
  • Other: Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and facility-specific compliance documents required.
