Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory Therapy, Pediatrics
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: May float within scope depending on experience; no floating to sister facilities
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Pediatric, Neonate, and Infant experience required)
- NICU Level: Experience in Level 4 NICU required
- Certifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Licensure: South Carolina Respiratory Care Provider (SC RCP) license required at time of start (pending state license accepted only if SC RRT license is in hand at start)
- Preferred: Epic electronic health record experience
Additional Requirements
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted
- Radius Rule: 60 miles; locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Block Schedule: Possible with prior approval (not guaranteed)

Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam: Initial and updated annually
- Fit test: N95 mask fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters may be needed for low titers
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Flu vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- COVID-19 vaccines: Highly preferred but not required; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Drug screen: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Background & Verification
- Annual background check covering last 7 years of residence and employment
- Employment verification of last 3 clinical employers (or all if fewer than 3)
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
- State-specific searches including South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers list
- NURSYS verification for licensure as applicable
Documentation & Onboarding
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge required before start
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) prior to orientation
- Upload COVID and flu vaccination records or declination forms into facility system
- Completion of required competency exams and safety acknowledgments prior to start
Notes
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation
- Facility may accommodate block scheduling with prior approval
- All required documents and certifications must be current and valid at time of start (no certifications expiring within 30 days of start accepted)
