Job Opportunity: LVN / LPN - Outpatient Clinic Cardiology

Location: Christiansburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: LPN in Ambulatory Cardiology Practice (Outpatient setting)
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
• No weekend shifts required
• Floating within skillset required, including working the EP (Electrophysiology) side of the clinic
• Patient population: Adults and geriatrics, including newly diagnosed cardiac patients, post-cardiac procedures, and those on cardiac maintenance therapy

Required Experience & Skills

• Specialty: Cardiology outpatient experience required
• Proficiency in obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG and emergency response skills
• Core clinical skills: cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, phlebotomy
• Additional skills: rooming patients, managing prescriptions, patient callbacks, completing forms
• EPIC charting experience required
• Accepts first-time travelers depending on candidate’s experience
• Locals not accepted (radius restrictions apply)

Certifications & Licensure

• Active Virginia State or Compact LPN license required; pending license accepted only if holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC certifications may be required depending on unit (verify as applicable)
• State license primary source verification required within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification required as applicable
• Other certifications and competencies may be required based on unit and specialty

Clinical Ratios & Environment

• Patient-to-nurse ratio can be up to 1:22
• Practice staffed by board-certified cardiologists and bilingual staff
• Outpatient cardiac care integrated with hospital resources
• Diagnostic testing and telehealth appointments available

Additional Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming freedom from communicable diseases
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Drug screening (10-panel) within 30 days of start
• Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella required
• Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG required
• Two clinical references required
• Completion of skills checklist annually
• Various facility-specific documents and compliance forms required prior to start

Notes

• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Return to office (RTO) requests must be approved at booking
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but acceptance of first-time travelers depends on experience
