Job Opportunity: Pediatric Cardiology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: Cardiology Clinics
- Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
- Start Date: Mid to late February (specific dates: 2/16 or 2/23)
- Floating: Will float between the main hospital Cardiology Clinics and the Kansas Cardiology Clinics on College Blvd.
- Electronic Health Record: EPIC experience strongly desired
Required Qualifications
- License: Must have a Missouri and Kansas state RN license or a Compact RN license
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only, HeartCode accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or PEARS – AHA only, HeartCode accepted; PEARS acceptable in lieu of PALS
- Experience:
- 1 year of prior travel experience required
- Additional Requirements:
- Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
- Background checks including county, statewide, and sex offender searches for Missouri and Kansas
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 30 days prior to start
- Immunizations and health documents as per pediatric healthcare standards (see Health Documents below)
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Immunizations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of 2 vaccines or titers)
- Hepatitis B (3 vaccines, titer, or declination)
- Varicella (proof of 2 vaccines or titers)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine (current season required; no declinations accepted)
- Tuberculosis:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per facility protocol
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start
- Background Checks: Must include Missouri Highway Patrol and other county/statewide checks for both Missouri and Kansas
- Other:
- Color blindness testing (required for clinical staff)
- Medication and pediatric pharmacology competency exams
- Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication calculations (100% required)
Additional Competencies and Documentation
- Pediatric skills checklist (as applicable)
- References: 2 supervisory references or performance evaluations within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Acknowledgment of pass/fail testing (for RNs)
- Respiratory safety clearance (RespSafety questionnaire)
Summary
This is a pediatric cardiology RN travel contract position requiring a minimum of 1 year prior travel experience, Missouri and Kansas RN licensure, and pediatric certifications including BLS and PALS/PEARS. The role involves floating between two cardiology clinic locations with a standard weekday day shift. Compliance with extensive health, immunization, background, and competency requirements is mandatory. EPIC experience is strongly preferred.
