Job Description

Seeking an Outpatient Oncology Pharmacist with infusion center experience. Candidates with inpatient experience combined with oncology experience may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Intravenous preparation including chemotherapy, IV piggyback, IV push medications, packaging antineoplastic agents, and sterile technique.
  • Pharmacotherapy management for medical problems including gastrointestinal, hematologic, immunologic, neurologic, oncologic, and rheumatologic conditions.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in outpatient care required.
  • Pharmacy residency from an accredited ASHP institution preferred.
  • Previous experience in a computerized hospital pharmacy setting is desirable.
  • Pyxis and Epic system skills preferred.

Shift Details:

  • Rotating shift: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday (some shifts may start at 7:00 AM).
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required (clinic usually closed on holidays and weekends).
  • No on-call required.
  • No floating outside scope of practice.
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion.
  • Start date: ASAP.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Hospital Pharmacist license in Virginia
  • Minimum of 1 year of Hospital Pharmacist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S. Pharm.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree
  • Experience in an outpatient setting

Additional Requirements

  • Must provide a valid Virginia driver’s license.
  • Background checks including lifetime criminal and education verification required.
  • Required certifications and competencies include:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA provider card required.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start required.
  • Fit mask (N95) certification required and must be updated annually.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable.
  • Drug testing within 30 days prior to start required.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
  • COVID vaccination documentation required or declination on file.
  • References: Two professional references required, including one from the current year and one within the last two years. References must be from supervisors or equivalent.

Experience

  • Oncology pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Infusion center experience required.
  • Pharmacy residency preferred but not mandatory.

Notes

  • Locals accepted.
  • Weekend and holiday rotations required.
  • No on-call duties.
  • No floating outside scope of practice.
  • First-time travelers accepted.
