Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Job Description

• 24/7 phlebotomy, Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and supervisor support available on all units
• Schedule: 36 hours on / 36 hours off (36/36 schedule)
• Rotating weekends and holidays
• No on-call required
• Floating between units required
• Hybrid unit with PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience required
• Active participation in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year
• PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience required
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Floating between units required

Orientation

• General orientation begins on Sundays (online computer-based learning)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional shifts beyond the work commitment may be flexed without penalty

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed or working in Tennessee
• Photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing
• Completion of facility-specific forms and compliance documents within specified timeframes

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Respiratory fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)
• Immunizations/vaccinations or documented immunity required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • TB screening (2 PPDs within last 12 months or equivalent)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR titers or vaccination documentation)
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Varicella (titer or vaccination documentation)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
• Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement

Additional Notes

• Candidates must commit to completing all required documentation and compliance steps by deadlines
• Participation in clinical education and nursing student support is expected as part of the role
• Floating between units is required as part of the job duties
