Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialist (RRT)

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a large volume pediatric and adult ECMO program.
  • Focus on stable pediatric ECMO patients.
  • Patient population includes congenital heart disease, congenital diaphragms hernias, and respiratory failure.
  • Rotating day and night shifts.
  • Occasional 1:1 patient ratios; pediatric circuits may be 1:2; adult patients 1:3 with remote monitoring.
  • Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week scheduling period.
  • No call or float responsibilities.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Michigan
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only; no certificates of completion).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA only; no certificates of completion).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (AHA only; required for pediatric units; no certificates of completion).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification as applicable (AHA only; no certificates of completion).
  • Flu shot required annually with no exemptions allowed.

Additional Requirements

  • EPIC electronic health record experience required.
  • ECMO experience required.
  • Two professional references required from managers or supervisors (Charge RN references not accepted).
  • Flu vaccination is mandatory with strict deadlines; no medical or religious exemptions.
  • Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (N95 or equivalent).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire.
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted).
  • Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Pass/fail competency testing (EKG/medication) required upon orientation.

Work Environment

  • Pediatric and adult ECMO patients in a high-acuity setting.
  • Rotating shifts with weekend coverage.
  • Patient ratios vary depending on patient acuity and monitoring model.

  • No call or float duties.
  • Strict compliance with vaccination and health screening policies.
  • Professional references must be from direct supervisors or managers.
  • Candidates must be prepared for competency testing during orientation.
