Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Paramus, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Work Schedule: Every other weekend required
• COVID-19 vaccine and booster required (no exemptions)
• No holiday time off approved
• Orientation Dates: Only two available dates for orientation

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Jersey
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Physical exam or statement of health within 12 months, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP
• Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no rapid tests accepted)
• Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and titers required within 72 hours of contract signing:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Varicella (proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or declination
  • Annual flu vaccination (mandatory, no religious or medical exemptions)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual Quantiferon Gold or 2-step PPD)
• COVID vaccine series and booster proof required (no exemptions)

Background and Verification

• 7-year background check including:

  • County, statewide, national criminal checks
  • Sex offender registry
  • OIG Sanction Search
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM verification
• Education verification of highest degree (diploma acceptable if verification pending)
• Employment verification for last 7 years (no gaps over 30 days without explanation)
• Two professional references required:

  • One supervisory reference from within 12 months
  • One professional reference from within 3 years
• Unit-specific skills checklist required

Competency and Testing Requirements

• Pass/fail testing onsite including:

  • Telemetry competency exam
  • Medication exam
• Annual competency exams with minimum 80% passing score:

  • Medication/Pharmacology
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG (except certain excluded units)
  • Core Competency Parts I, II, and III covering safety, HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, ethics, patient rights, and more
• ECG Foundations exam (Relias) required to prepare for onsite pass/fail test (not required for some excluded units)

Additional Notes

• Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility receive a different rate (not disclosed here)
• No temporary or emergency licenses accepted without prior approval
• Candidates must be prepared to provide information for ID badge creation during orientation
• All license verifications must be run within 30 days prior to start date

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses who meet the certification and licensure requirements and are comfortable working night shifts on a travel contract basis in New Jersey.
