Job Description

Seeking an RN with Med-Surg (MS) and Telemetry (Tele) experience to work in a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) setting with a high-acuity patient population. Patients include med-surg types up to vented/intubated and trached patients requiring longer hospital stays before discharge to home, rehab, or skilled nursing. Common patient conditions include post open-heart surgery, cystic fibrosis, vent weaning, pulmonary fibrosis, and sepsis from wounds.

• Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts
• Float required
• Every third weekend required (8 weekend shifts per contract)
• Self-scheduling available
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
• Local candidates accepted within 50-mile radius at a reduced rate

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year recent Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing experience (within the last year)
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (annual requirement)

Additional Requirements

• Background checks including national criminal, state, county, SSN trace, sex offender, and federal exclusions
• Education verification (official transcript or diploma with graduation date)
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes multiple drug panels)
• Immunizations and health documents:

  • Physical exam within last 12 months
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with follow-up if positive)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or declination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or declination
  • Flu vaccine required annually or approved medical/religious exemption (mask required if exempt)
• Fit mask testing completed onsite
• Professional references (2, within 3 years)
• Employment application, skills checklist, and work history verification required
• State-specific Missouri EDL search within 30 days of start

Orientation & Competency Testing

• Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (minimum 84% to pass, max 2 attempts except ICU which is one attempt only)
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required for ED nurses prior to start; ICU nurses only if assignment exceeds 1 year
• Annual safety manual acknowledgement and pass/fail testing required
• Onsite AVADE training required if extending past initial contract (includes online pre-work and in-person skills validation)
