Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Job Details

Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, with alternating weekends
Effort made to keep shifts at consistent start times weekly

Required Certifications

BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - valid for 4 years
NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
CA Registered Nurse License

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty
No explicit prior travel experience required

Background and Compliance Requirements

7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including alias and county searches
Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
Sex offender search required within 90 days of start
Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law)
Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual renewal required)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (or signed declination)
Respiratory safety clearance required annually
References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client)
Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps over 30 days

Additional Requirements

Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and telemetry if assigned to Telemetry units
Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be reviewed and signed prior to start
Compliance with conflict of interest, code of conduct, and other regulatory policies required

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience as a Registered Nurse
Emergency Department experience within the last year
ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
