Job Opportunity: MRI Tech

Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts; days vary; occasional weekends
• Shift Times: Either 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM or 10:00 AM - 10:30 PM
• Daily Caseload: Average 20-25 patients per 24 hours (department caseload, not per tech)
• Scanner: One Phillips MRI scanner
• Work Setting: Outpatient & Inpatient; Emergency Room (ER)
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years as a registered MRI Tech
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, some weekends required
• On-call: No
• Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Local Candidates: Accepted within a 100-mile radius, subject to approval
• Pending State License: Not accepted; must have West Virginia state ARRT license

Required Qualifications

• Valid MRI Technologist license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of MRI Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
• ARRT certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience working in both outpatient and inpatient settings
• MRI procedure experience with abdomen

• Charting systems: Cerner, Fuji Synapse
• Scrub color: Caribbean Blue

Health & Safety Requirements

• Flu Shot: Mandatory during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medically exempt with documentation
• COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required
• Physical Exam: Must be completed within 1 year of start, signed by a licensed provider, confirming good health and no physical limitations
• Fit Mask Testing: Annual fit testing required; accommodations available if unable to pass fit test
• Immunizations & Testing:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination required (declinations not accepted; medical/religious exemptions possible)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers required
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer documentation required
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titers required
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel
• Background Checks: 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, sex offender search, national and international checks if applicable
• References: Minimum 1 reference from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse within 1 year of start

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers accepted if they meet experience and licensure requirements
• Orientation is two days (Thursday and Friday) with required training modules to be completed prior to start
• Candidates must complete annual specialty skills checklist
• No floating or on-call duties required
• Block scheduling may be accommodated depending on department needs
